Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  1. JLIS is a semi-annual scholarly journal published in June and December by the Department of Library & Information Science of the National Taiwan University. JLIS is pleased to receive submission of manuscripts in library and information science, bibliography, documentation, archival studies, educational technologies and other related fields from all parts of the world.

  2. JLIS is a peer-reviewed open access journal. All content published in JLIS is publicly accessible via this Web site orNational Taiwan University's institutional repository services)

  3. Invited and unsolicited manuscripts must be original works written in English or Mandarin Chinese. The text length limit is 20,000 words for Chinese manuscripts and 10000 words for English manuscripts. Please include the following information in the manuscript: title, author name, job title, affiliation, email, abstract (300 words), and keywords (no more than five). Manuscripts written in Chinese must provide the aforementioned information in both Chinese and English.

  4. All manuscripts must conform to the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

  5. Authors are required to obtain copyright clearance for any copyrighted material used in their manuscripts. JLISresumes no responsibility for authors’ use of copyrighted materials in their manuscripts.

  6. Acceptance of manuscripts by JLIS clearly indicates the transfer of copyright ownership from the authors to JLIS. The authors, however, retain the rights to re-publish the papers in other publications and to use the papers for Internet self-archiving. Upon republication, the authors should fully acknowledge the original publication of the works in JLIS.

  7. By transferring the copyright to JLIS, the authors agree that the JLIS can:

    (1) publish the manuscript in the journal and its derivative publications;

    (2) reproduce and distribute the manuscript in printed, electronic, or other medium;

    (3) provide access to the manuscript in its electronic databases via Internet and other forms of transmission and authorize other database service providers to provide access. 

  8.  JLIS adopts the CC BY-NC-ND under Creative Commons Attributions 4.0 International as open access attribution.

  9. Authors receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their works are printed.

  10. The publishing of JLIS is sponsored by the National Taiwan University and the Ministry of Science and Technology. JLIS does not charge publication fees from authors.

  11. JLIS accepts manuscript submissions through the OJS online submission system. Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format or other compatible and editable text formats (no PDF). All correspondence regarding manuscript submission should be directed to jlis@mail.lis.ntu.edu.tw
